Cumberland Park
Cumberland Park Renovation | 2021 – 2023
Cumberland Park is a well-loved and well-used neighborhood park serving over 400 homes that was in dire need of renovation. This lovely park on Cumberland Drive is a popular destination for many families in the neighborhood and much of West Redding. The play structure is the original installation, which dates to 1992. The goal of the project was to replace the existing play structure with a newer, bigger, and better structure, and enlarge the play area—including a swing set and a shaded picnic area.
The City of Redding will fund the replacement of the current play structure; however, public funds are insufficient to add other enhancements such as a swing set or a shaded picnic area. There was a $50,000 funding gap to fully fund this project. The Foundation raised over $10,000 for the Cumberland Park Renovation Project through their annual Vine & Dine for Parks event in 2022 as well as provided staff support at several other smaller fundraisers hosted by the City of Redding Community Services Department during 2021. Additional monies to complete the project came from grants and many donations from members of the community.
Cumberland Park will celebrate the completion of this project with a Park Reopening in April 2023. We want to express our deep appreciation to everyone for their support of this project!
